For the first time in over 50 years, Eagles played a live show without Joe Walsh.

Remarkably, this is the first Eagles show that Walsh has missed since he joined the band in 1975. The musician pulled out of that show after coming down with the flu.

Speaking to the Vegas crowd on the night, Don Henley said it was a tough decision when they were informed that Walsh was ill and unable to perform.

“We had a choice to make,” he told the crowd. “We could either cancel the whole thing, or we could man up and do the show. So we came down here this afternoon and had an emergency rehearsal for two hours. And fortunately, in this band, we have a deep bench".

Walsh had also missed parts of the previous night's show, with Henley also paying tribute to Walsh's attempts to carry on despite his discomfort.

“He was sick last night,” he said. “But he heroically made it through last of the show…Joe’s going to be okay. He just needs some time. Give him some love".

On the night, Walsh was replaced by Vince Gill, who also lend his vocals to songs like, 'Life's Been Good', and 'Rocky Mountain Way', while Deacon Frey and guitarist Chris Holt performed 'Hotel California', with Frey taking on the famous solo.

News of this comes days after it was announced that Eagles' Greatest Hits album became the first record to be quadruple certified diamond in the USA.

Celebrating this occasion, Eagles are to share a special new edition of the record, which will come on clear, 180 gram vinyl arrive next month, (February 17). You can pre order this album via this link here.

The album was released by the band in 1976, and has now sold 40 million copies in the US.
