Watch Eric Clapton Perform Purple Rain At The Royal Albert Hall

Eric Clapton surprised fans with a performance of the 1984 Prince Classic, “Purple Rain” at The Royal Albert Hall This Week.

The show on May 13th was the first time Clapton had performed a rendition of the song “Purple Rain” to a live audience. Rolling Stone reports that the guitarist Eric has never covered a Prince song before.

Eric Clapton To Release A New Festive Bluesy Album!

Clapton showcased his own version of “Purple Rain” at the finale of the first night show in London. The evening’s event opened with the number “Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be) as a tribute to the late Doris Day, who died that day at the age of 97, the set also included a version of “Layla.”

Antimusic reports that Clapton will head now off to Germany and Austria for a short run of concerts next month.
