The murder of Beatles band member John Lennon from 1980 will be the subject of a brand new three-part documentary series, coming soon to Apple TV+.
The series titled, ‘John Lennon: Murder Without A Trial’, is to include interviews, eye witness accounts, along with previously unseen crime photos, which are set to provide “new light on the life and murder” of John Lennon.
“most thoroughly researched examination”
This series examining the life and death of John Lennon, has been described as “the most thoroughly researched examination of John Lennon’s 1980 murder, which shocked and saddened the world”.
It has also been reported that the production for this series was given extensive Freedom of Information Act requests from the New York City Police Department, the District Attorney’s Office, as well as the Board of Parole.
The series also includes, “exclusive interviews with eyewitnesses — speaking for the first time — along with some of Lennon’s closest friends, revealing shocking details of Lennon’s tragic murder”.
It will also shed light on the investigation, and subsequent conviction Lennon’s confessed killer, Mark David Chapman.
Chapman was convicted for fatally shooting Lennon in December 1980, which took place outside the musician’s New York apartment. He had been returning from the Upper West Side building, with his wife Yoko Ono, following a recording session.
It had been reported that Lennon had signed an autograph for Chapman earlier that day.

Chapman’s psychiatrists, defence lawyers, detectives and prosecutors will also be interviewed in this series.
Narrated by actor Kiefer Sutherland, ‘John Lennon: Murder Without A Trial’ was also directed by Nicky Holt, and Rob Coldstream.
A release date was not confirmed at the time of writing.
One thing which has been released, is a 12 minute short film exploring about how the final Beatles track ‘Now And Then’ was originally written.
