Earlier this week, Bruce Springsteen performed the track ‘If I Was The Priest’ for the first time in over 50 years.

The singer performed the track whilst on tour with the E Street Band at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Springsteen is currently on tour with the band for the first time since 2017.

He had originally announced plans for this tour last May, which would see him perform alongside Steven Van Zandt, Roy Bittan, Gary Tallent, Max Weinberg, Patti Scialfa and Nils Lofgren. More on this here.

“And I still don’t have a clue what the f*** it’s about” – Springsteen

Springsteen and the E Street Band are currently embarking on the North American leg of their tour, where they performed the track ‘If I Was The Priest’, which you can check out below.

“I wrote this song. I was 22, 15 years ago”, Springsteen told the audience. “And I still don’t have a clue what the f*** it’s about”.

The last time Springsteen and co performed the track was at New York’s Gas Light Au Go Go nightclub.

However, the song was officially re recorded with the E Street Band in 2020, and featured on the album ‘Letter To You’.

Elsewhere, Bruce Springsteen had also announced plans to release a set of previously unheard albums last November. Find out more from this from Nova here.
