A special busking memorial gathered around Dublin City centre in tribute to the late Glen Hansard, who passed away earlier this week.
This comes after Hansard died following a motorcycle crash in Dublin earlier this week. He was 56 years old.
Hansard, who began by by busking on Grafton Street, went on to become one of Ireland's most celebrated performers, in a career which saw him win an Oscar for co writing Falling Slowly, which featured in the Irish drama, Once in 2007.
In 1991, he also won Grammy Award for starring in The Commitments, the film adaption of Roddy Doyle's book of the same name. He played guitarist, 'Outspan' Foster.
Since then, a group of musicians assembled around the statue of the late Luke Kelly near Grafton Street to sing some of Hansard's finest tracks, including his Oscar winning track, Falling Slowly.
This special gathering took place, near the Gaiety Theatre, a place where Hansard also held his traditional Christmas Eve charity busk.
Th busking event was organised by a musician called, Jamie Harrington, who hails from the same Ballymun suburb where Glen Hansard grew up.
Speaking to RTÉ, Mr Harrington said that one of musicians taking part in the busk was play a guitar that was given to him by Hansard as he did not have one of his own.
"I organised this today because I wanted to give people who are also fans of Glen a chance to gather and be together with other people who are also sad," Mr Harrington told the national broadcaster.
"You know, it's a really, really sad time. Glen was a legend to many of us. He was a friend to me, and I was very lucky to have Glen as a friend and as someone I could rely on and depend on when things needed to be done.
"And, you know, from talking to people here today, Glen has touched so many people’s lives by never even meeting them. His music resonates with people all over the world", he added. "But he’s just a kid from Ballymun at the end of the day - Ballymun to the world".
Following his death, a number of household names paid a special tribute to Glen Hansard, including Bruce Springsteen.
"Here on E Street, we are heartbroken over the death of Glen Hansard", Springsteen wrote on Instagram. "We met in Ireland many years ago and he was always nothing but a great musician, a good friend and a generous and gracious man".
