Legendary figures, Elton John and Michael Caine starred in a lighthearted NHS video, attemping to persuade people to take the Covid-19 vaccine.

In this 90 second clip, the pair assure people that the vaccine is safe and efficient. They also provide their own comic edge.

In the ad, music legend, Elton John is seen pretending to audition for a part to promote the Covid jab. He acts out having the jab, before getting up to sing one of his hits “I’m still standing”.

After several takes, a less than impressed casting director says, “Thanks, Elton, we will let you know”.

To which Elton comically replies, “Well at this short notice you won’t find anyone bigger”.

Elton John aged 73, along with Michael Caine 87, have both already received their Covid vaccine. They followed Sir Ian McKellen, who received his vaccine before Christmas.

As did US President Joe Biden.

The vaccine “didn’t hurt”

Also in this clip, two time Oscar winner Caine is also seen telling people that “it didn’t hurt” whilst getting his vaccine.

In this ad, Elton John also said, “I wanted to take part in this film to help show people the benefits of getting vaccinated and how it helps protect ourselves and the people we love”.

Adding, “The more people in society who get vaccinated, the more chance there is of eradicating the national Covid pandemic. It’s really important to know that the vaccines have all been thorough and met the necessary safety and quality standards”.

The Chief Executive of the NHS, Sir Simon Stevens also reiterated this message, stressing the importance getting vaccinated against Covid-19.

Sir Simon Stevens said this, “Well over nine out of 10 people aged 75 or over have already taken up the offer of their NHS Covid vaccination. Adding “now we want to encourage everyone in the high priority groups to do so”.
