Ozzy Osbourne has stated that he feels “honestly overwhelmed” on receiving four Grammy award nominations.

The former Black Sabbath singer received four nominations for his album ‘Patient Number 9’.

Osbourne’s album has received the nod for Best Rock Album, and Best Rock Performance.

While his title track was nominated for Best Rock Song, while his song ‘Degradation Rules’ was nominated for Best Metal Performance.

“I mean that song would’ve made a great Black Sabbath track. It’s a very well-structured song”, Ozzy said of ‘Degradation Rules’.

Osbourne who joined forces with former bandmate Tony Iommi, said of his friend, “I’ve known Tony since I was 12 years old and I’m glad to say we’ve continued a really good friendship. Tony’s been very supportive of me while I’ve been recovering from surgery. He’s been in constant contact, which has been great”.

This also marks the most nominations that the Prince of Darkness has received for a single studio album.

Osbourne has received 8 nominations in his entire career, winning on three occasions

“pretty great”

Following this news, Ozzy Osbourne spoke in a recent Q&A, where he revealed that the Covid pandemic afforded him time and space to create a new album so soon after 2020’s Ordinary Man.

“I’m honestly overwhelmed. Making this record was a great way to me to get back to work as I continued to heal”, Osbourne said. “It’s pretty great to be acknowledged at this point in my career”.

“Well, the thing was I had all this time – we all did through the pandemic,” he added.

“Instead of lying there and just doing my physical therapy, the record actually got me doing something that I love”.

“I was thinking about the times we’ve been living in”, the singer continued. “There wasn’t much good news. It was a fucking war in Ukraine and the pandemic. The world seemed to be on the brink of a bad thing”.

“The business forever surprises me. It’s never a safe bet”, he added.

“I’ve done things in the past where I tell myself, ‘This is going to be a hit’. Then it’s gone down the shitter and other things I’ve done… it’s done the opposite. I’m very cheered up by the support”.

The upcoming Grammy Awards take place on 5 February 2023 at LA’s Crypto.com Arena.

Back in October, Ozzy Osbourne praised his fellow rock stars for their support in light of his ongoing health struggles.
