Pearl Jam have have released their new single ‘Dark Matter’, the title track from their upcoming album.

The release of this single comes after a listening party which took place in late January at Los Angele’s Troubadour Club, where the frontman Eddie Vedder reportedly told fans that this album is “our best work”.

Pearl Jam had already teased the release of this album, after they shared a video containing several posts from fans excited about the upcoming release.

It also featured the accompanying message ‘Midnight ET’, while the band’s record label also shared a 30 second sample of the track to their Wikipedia page, which you can check out here.

“revisit them”

Last year, Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament had said that the band had always intended to release a new album in 2024.

“I think I heard Stone [Gossard, guitar] thought that the record was done, but I know for a fact that it’s not. I don’t think all the songs are done”, Ament said.

He also added, “The hardest part of making a record a lot of times is figuring out which songs go on the record and do we need to record another song, and what’s the artwork and what’s the title, and all that stuff”.

“And I know for a fact right now everybody wants the summer off, because last summer was a bit of a grind. For me, in a week, I’m shutting everything off”.

“And I know at that point, the record’s still not done, so come September we’re still gonna be… The questions we have about where we’re at and whatever, we’ll ask those questions again and we’ll revisit them”.

‘Dark Matter’ will arrive on April 19, available to pre order from the official Pearl Jam store. It is also also available on CD, black vinyl, red/black vinyl, and indies-only clear vinyl.

It will also be released as a released as a deluxe CD/Blu-ray edition with HD audio and Dolby Atmos immersive mix.

The album will be their first release since 2020’s ‘Gigaton’.

Pearl Jam also recorded the album with producer Andrew Watt, who recently worked on Ozzy Osbourne’s Grammy Award winning record ‘Patient Number 9’.
