Peter Hook has dedicated Joy Division's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction to Ian Curtis.

Joy Division were named alongside a record breaking six British acts for this year's edition, which also included Oasis, Sade and Billy Idol. The band also feature in the 'Performer' category alongside Wu-Tang Clan, Luther Vandross among others.

Peter Hook played as part of Joy Division until they became New Order when Ian Curtis died from suicide in 1980.

Hook who left the band in 2007, has responded to the band's inclusion on social media, confirming that he will be attending the ceremony.

In a video showing him in an Oasis t shirt, Peter Hook said: “Hi. I’d just like to say how wonderfully pleased I am to be finally accepted into the Cleveland Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame".

“I’ve been looking forward to it for years, so I definitely am gonna make the most of it. I’d like to say that this is for Ian Curtis, and for all our fans of both bands. Without you, we would be nothing. So thank you so much", he added.

Confirming his appearance on the night, Hook said: “I will see you on the night".

Sharing the video on social media, Peter Hook added the caption: “What an honour – thank you! See you at the ceremony…” It is not yet known whether the current members of New Order will be in attendance, too".

Back in 2023, New Order and Joy Division earned a joint nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

At the time, Hook said that this nomination could be an "olive branch" needed to "end all the injustices".

Peter Hook had originally formed Joy Division with Bernard Summer, Stephen Morris and Ian Curtis in 1976, before later forming New Order following Curtis' death in 1980.

In 2011, New Order were reformed by guitarist/keyboardist Summer, and drummer Morris, as well as featuring keyboardist/guitarist, Gillian Gilbert. This newly formed band did not include Hook, which led to a lawsuit following a row over royalties, which resulted in an out of court settlement.

“We still haven’t spoken, personally in 11 years. We’re still fighting hammer and tong, tooth and nail… I think we’re going for the record for the longest group fallout in history. It’s very tragic", Hook said back in 2013. “It will be a difficult awards ceremony if we get there, but as my wife said we’ve got to rise above these things… and be nice and be courteous and think the best".

“Maybe this is the olive branch that we may need to end the injustices that were done with New Order in the end. It’s a very strange position to be in but, y’know, we’re not the first group that’s been ostracised by each other, and we won’t be the last".
