Victoria Mary Clarke the wife of Pogues legend Shane MacGowan, has thanked her followers and fans who have showed their support for her husband, as he recovers in hospital.

The singer spent a recent period in intensive care for an unspecified health issue.

Yesterday, journalist and writer Victoria Mary Clarke had revealed that following his intensive care visit, her husband Shane was “doing well” and recovering.

“He is still in hospital but he is doing well and being looked after”, she said. “I didn’t want to worry people. He is out of the ICU and doing well”.

MacGowan “sending love”

In a further update sent to her followers on social media site X (formerly Twitter), Victoria Mary Clarke thanked well wishers for their support for Shane MacGowan.

Alongside a photo of herself smiling beside her husband who is donning a medical gown, Victoria wrote, “I just wanted to thank everyone who is sending love and prayers for ⁦@ShaneMacGowan”.

“We really appreciate it and bless all of you and anyone anywhere who is having health challenges! ⁦@poguesofficial”, she also added.

Shane MacGowan has been using a wheelchair since 2015, following a fall. He also broke his knee and suffered ligament damage in 2020.

He also spent some time in hospital, after falling ill in December with viral encephalitis, where the brain becomes inflamed. He was also suffering with shingles.

“The hospital explained to me that shingles can go into your brain and that’s what happened to Shane so now they want to keep him in on a drip for two weeks”, Victoria Mary Clarke said at the time.
