At a show in Santiago, Chile last week (March 20th) Damon Albarn’s merry band of simian beatmerchants debuted a new song called ‘Hollywood’. The video is available to watch below. Albarn confirmed the tune would feature on the new Gorillaz album which is due for imminent release.
Band mate, Jamie Hewlett, had confirmed that there would be a follow up to last year’s ‘Humanz’ this year. Which is a relief for all concerned considering it took six years for them to release that record!
One of the contributors on the song wasn’t at the show, however Albarn asked the audience to ‘see if you can work out who it is’. Seemingly, Albarn was referring to a Snoop Dogg guest vocal.
Albarn also said that their new album would be out ‘very soon’. He spoke to the crowd, ‘If you go and tell anyone that we’re putting a new album out very soon then I’ll deny it because I didn’t say that, alright?’
