American fast-food chain In-N-Out Burger is landing in Dublin with a one-day pop-up event in the city centre on March 25.

The California-founded brand, which has built a near cult-like following despite its limited international presence, will be serving its signature menu from the Harbourmaster Bar & Restaurant in the IFSC between 11am and 3pm.

The appearance marks another short-term visit for the chain, which still has no permanent location in Ireland.

Founded in 1948 in California, In-N-Out has become one of the most recognisable names in American fast food, particularly on the West Coast.

Unlike global giants such as McDonald's or Burger King, the company has deliberately kept its footprint relatively small, focusing on a handful of U.S. states and maintaining tight control over quality and supply chains.

This scarcity has helped fuel demand internationally, with pop-ups like the Dublin event drawing long queues from curious customers and loyal fans alike.

The menu itself is famously simple, centred around freshly prepared burgers, hand-cut chips, and milkshakes.

The most popular item is the “Double-Double” — a burger featuring two beef patties, two slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and the brand’s signature spread. Another staple is the classic cheeseburger, alongside freshly made fries cooked in sunflower oil.

However, part of In-N-Out’s appeal lies in its so-called “secret menu,” an unofficial list of customisations widely known among fans.

This includes options like “Animal Style” burgers and fries — which add melted cheese, grilled onions, and extra sauce — as well as protein-style burgers wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun.

The chain has also built its reputation on using fresh, never frozen beef and preparing food to order, a contrast to the more standardised approach seen across much of the fast-food industry.

This emphasis on quality, combined with a nostalgic, pared-back menu, has helped In-N-Out maintain strong customer loyalty over decades, particularly in the United States.

The Dublin pop-up follows previous visits in September 2015 and November 2021, both of which saw significant turnout, with queues forming well before opening.

As with those events, this week’s offering will operate on a first come, first served basis, with limited quantities available — meaning demand is expected to outstrip supply.

While the event is temporary, it once again highlights the brand’s enduring global appeal and raises ongoing questions about whether In-N-Out could ever establish a permanent presence in Ireland.

For now, however, Dublin customers will have just a few hours to sample one of America’s most talked-about fast-food chains.
